Happy 2018 Halloween

This year, I went as the White Blood Cell [Neutrophil] from Cells at Work! ...And I was pretty much one of the only 2-3 people to dress up at work. .___.
My friend had previously talked about dressing up as the Red Blood Cell or Platelet companion, but he unfortunately had to bail (because work at the lab was a bit tougher this year).
Still, I had fun.

Happy Belated Halloween!

Gosh, I haven't updated this journal or pretty much anything on this website in years (months?)!
I may be a week late, but I'd like to wish everyone a happy belated Halloween.
Recently, I've taken an interest in making my own Halloween costumes.
Last year, I went as the Scarecrow from Batman.
This year, I went as a (lobotomized) mad scientist...because that is what I currently do for a living.
Our research department was holding its first annual Halloween costume contest and highly encouraged participants to dress up as something science-themed.
And I won!
It was a lot of fun wandering around building to spook fellow researchers. I also got stopped quite a few times for pictures...It was a very lively day.
The only downside was removing all of that makeup. There was also quite a decent amount of dried latex left on my hair (used to apply the bald cap), which itself was a whole different adventure... >_>
Regardless, I hope everyone else else had fun on the 31st!

Starting school...

I start my second year of University tomorrow. Not only that, but I'll also be assisting a Professor (along with other undergrads) in teaching Organic Chemistry II. So, as you see, I may be a little less active from today onwards. I'm not exactly sure how productive I'll be during the next four months, but I'll try my best to balance school, work, and artistic hobbies.

So I logged in a few days ago only to find that I've just hit the milestone for 1,000 pageviews. I know I've only been active for a short while, and that my art's got ways to go, but I genuinely thank everyone for helping me make it this far. I mean, I'm not an art student at all (I'm actually majoring in Biochmistry) and I've barely taken any formal art classes, so everything I put out is mostly self-taught, thus a result of trial and (lots of) error, and is really just done for a hobby...so I'm really happy to learn that many people really do enjoy my art. ;w;
For this, I think it's appropriate to do the Devianart questionnaire. I know that I'm obviously late to the party, but I think it's a good way for an artist to communicate with their viewers, which is something I'd like to do as much as I can (despite being busy with school and life in general). Well, here goes nothing...

10 months in this account, and nearly three years in my previous, empty-ish, one. However, I was lurking around this website for at least five years prior...
- What does your username mean?
Allow me to tell you a funny story...
For quite some time, I've had an interest in translating Japanese characters (katakana, hiragana, kanji...) to the English language and vice-versa. I found it especially useful whenever I encounter terms in Anime and Manga, whenever I had to make up some random power or name for a character in a guild rp (which I don't often engage in nowadays), or whenever I just felt like it. One day, I happened to combine the character for the word "ore" and "sky" together and, knowing how not so reliable online translators can be (specifically Google translate), I got something along the lines of "mining the heavens." Thus, "Miner of Skies" was born.
Its meaning really is up to you. I just thought it sounded hella poetic and went with it.

- What is your favourite type of art to create?
Anime style and cartoon- usually anything disproportionate/chibi-esque which defies the laws of anatomy. >w>
I would love to start drawing some mecha in the furture.
- If you could instantly master a different art style, what would it be?
...firstly, I would love to master anatomy. I believe that would truly be useful to implement in my drawings.
As for art styles, I've got too many to choose from.
Well, aside from the obvious Rockman Zero style (and its derivatives), I would love to master Mogeko/Okegom/funamusea/Deep-Sea Prisoner's (holy shit, that's a lot of aliases for one person (◉-◉) ) style of drawing. I really love his work and the games he's developed, moge~

Though I tend to visit ZA-18, Tomycase, UMX, shonuff44, Cageychick, NanFe, Lady 20XX, and other artists quite often.

I would really love to meet my good friend.
- How has a fellow deviant impacted your life? In the five years we've known each other, he was always there to support me and encourage me to keep on drawing whenever I felt discouraged.
I know I've got a long way but, if it wasn't for him, I wouldn't be here today. I am really proud to call him my best friend. Thank you so much! ^_^
- What are your preferred tools to create art?
I proudly rely on my trusty pencil for sketches, and my mouse for lineart+color (on GIMP)!

- What is the most inspirational place for you to create art?
My room, or any place where no one's looking. I tend to get flustered when that happens... >.> <.< ^.^ V.V

I've only been truly active for a short amount of time, so I can't really give much of an input right now. But hopefully, I'll be able to make plenty of wonderful memories with everyone here. ^w^
